π New features
π Customer tag targeting for deposits & installments
You can now control which customers see your deposit or installment payment options based on their customer tags β so you're not limited to offering split payments to everyone.
When creating or editing a payment option, a new Customers section lets you choose between:
All customers β the payment option is available to everyone (previous default behavior)
Specific customer tags β restrict or target the option by tag, with two modes:
Include customers with these tags β only tagged customers will see the option
Exclude customers with these tags β everyone except tagged customers will see it
Use the tag search field to find existing customer tags or create new ones on the spot.
This applies to both deposit payments and installment payments, making it especially useful for merchants with tiered wholesale or B2B structures who want to offer deferred billing to select customer groups only.
π "On order fulfillment" payment schedule for deposits
When setting up a deposit, you can now schedule the second payment to be collected automatically when the order is fulfilled β without needing to set a fixed date or a number of days.
In the Offer section, under Payment schedule for the second payment, select:
Days after checkout β charge after a set number of days
On a specific date β charge on a fixed calendar date
On order fulfillment (new) β charge when the order is marked as fulfilled
This option is best suited for merchants whose fulfillment timelines vary by order and where committing to a fixed billing date isn't practical. The second payment is triggered automatically once the full order is fulfilled.
Note: This feature works with deposit payments only, as it uses Shopify's native selling plan infrastructure. Partial fulfillment is not supported in this iteration β the second payment is collected only when the entire order is fulfilled.
