Allow your shoppers to pay an upfront deposit to purchase a product, with the remaining amount charged automatically at a later time.
Note: For showing deposit payment widgets in your store change your payment gateway settings to comply with Shopify's requirements
Steps to Set Up Deposit Payments
On your Shopify dashboard, navigate to Deferred payments → Tick the box “Deposit payments” type, or click the Edit settings button in the Deferred payments section.
A preview will appear showing how the deposit option will display to shoppers.
Choose where installment payments apply to:
All products
Specific collections
Specific products
If you select specific collections or products, browse the products or collections and select them.
Next, configure deposit offer:
For Initial Payment, enter the percentage of the product price customers must pay upfront (e.g., 50%).
For the Second Payment Schedule:
Delayed Days: Charge the remaining balance after a set number of days (e.g., 30 days).
Fixed Date: Charge the remaining balance on a specific date.
Optionally, you can add a custom tag (e.g.,
Deposit-payment
) to help track deposit orders in your Shopify admin.Next, you can add an inline text (e.g., Initial deposit payment: {{percentage}}) to clearly show the deposit terms.
Finally, decide where the deposit widget should appear on your product page.
When you click the Change button, your store page will open in a new tab where you can set the widget placement.
You can tick the box to show the deposit badge on a product image. Next, click Select. You'll be taken to your store, product pages to select the images to display the badge on.
Hold down the Shift key and Select Add to cart button on the page. Then click Save.
Click Save.
