Release v2.19.0

One design for deposit and installment widgets, cart-page fixed dates, and exact installment totals

Written by Andrey Gadashevich

🚀 New features

👉 One design for the deposit and installment widgets

The deposit and installment widgets used to have separate designs, which could drift apart without you noticing. They now share one design that you edit in one place: Settings → Customization.

What to know:

  • The Widget customization page is now the Customization tab in Settings, next to General. Old links still open it.

  • Settings are grouped into three collapsible cards: Layout and theme, Widget and Badges and labels.

  • The Deposit and Installment buttons above the preview only change what you preview. Both widgets use the same design.

  • The installment badge now uses the same style as the deposit badge. Its text is still set in each payment option.

  • Deposit badges on collection pages now follow the badge position you set, as installment badges already did.

  • The "days" and "weeks" labels are shared by both widgets and can be translated.

  • The Design page now covers Split payments only.

Note: Nothing changes on your storefront until you save the Customization tab. If your two widgets looked different, the tab opens with the design of the widget you currently use.

👉 Specific payment dates for cart-page installments

In v2.16.0, product installment offers got On specific dates. Cart-page installment offers now have it too.

What to know:

  • Go to Partial payments → Cart page, open an installment offer, and under Payment schedule for the remaining payments choose On specific dates.

  • It works the same as on product pages: one date per remaining payment, and each date must be later than the one before.

  • Once any of an offer's dates has passed, the cart widget stops showing that offer. If no offer is left, the cart checks out at full price.

  • The Cart preview in the admin now shows the dates.

👉 A redesigned "Create split order manually" page

Orders → Create split order manually has a cleaner layout. The orders it creates are exactly the same as before.

What to know:

  • Payment types are now Multiple, Shared and Installment. Only the selected type shows its description.

  • Multiple: enter the recipient email once, then the amount of each payment.

  • Shared: each payment has its own box with the recipient and the amount.

  • Payment deadline and Set deadline reminder time now share their own card. The deadline starts empty, so you pick it for every order.

  • Installment orders no longer ask for a deadline, because it comes from the payment schedule. Initial payment is now called Upfront payment.

👉 A reminder to activate the app in your theme

If the app isn't active in your theme, your payment options don't show up for customers. The Activate app in your theme dialog now opens right after you save:

  • the Split payments page, when Split payments are on

  • a partial payment option, when the option is active

  • partial payments in cart-page mode

👉 Safer email templates

To protect your customers from phishing, links in email templates can now only point to your own store.

What to know:

  • Links are allowed to your myshopify.com domain, your primary domain and its subdomains, and cdn.shopify.com.

  • A template with any other link won't save. The message lists the addresses to remove.

  • Templates keep basic formatting only. If a template can't be checked before sending, the default template is sent instead.

  • Test emails are limited to 3 per minute and 30 per day.

  • The date format can be d-m-Y, m-d-Y or Y-m-d.

  • Revert to default and the save bar no longer show changes you didn't make.

⚙️ Improvements

👉 New default look for Split payments

New stores now get a black pop-up, button and badge by default. Existing stores keep their colors.

👉 Updated app permissions

The app can now read fulfillment orders, which helps our team answer "why is this order on hold?" faster. Shopify asks you to approve this once, the next time you open the app.

⚙️ Installment payments add up exactly

👉 Payments match the order price

Shopify rounds each installment down, so payments could add up to a few cents less than the order price. The last payment now covers the difference, so the total always matches.

👉 Upfront payments with more than 2 decimals

An upfront percentage such as 33.333% made Shopify reject the order, so neither the first payment nor a manual order was created. The Upfront payment field now accepts up to 2 decimals, and existing values are rounded automatically. Number fields also no longer turn extra decimals into .99.

👉 Paid amounts include discounts on the first payment

When a customer used a discount on the first installment invoice, the app recorded that payment at full price. It now records what the customer actually paid. Paid amounts and revenue on discounted plans may look lower, but that's the money you received.

👉 Discounted plans paid with a combined invoice now complete

A discounted installment plan paid off through a combined invoice could stay Partially paid, so its final order was never created. These plans now complete and get their final order.

👉 Orders paid in full aren't invoiced again

If a staff member duplicated an order placed through the widget and the customer paid it in full, the app could treat it as a new installment plan and invoice the customer again. Orders paid in full no longer become plans. Paid plans no longer send invoices, reminders or Flow triggers.
